Ingredients
For the Sliders
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- 12 KING HAWAIIAN sweet rolls
- ½ pound turkey, thinly sliced
- ⅔ cup Signature Cafe cranberry sauce
- ½ pound Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Spray a 9X13-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside to prepare for assembling the sliders.
- Melt Butter and Add Poppy Seeds: Place the 4 tablespoons of salted butter in a small bowl and microwave for about 30 seconds until melted. Stir in 1 teaspoon of poppy seeds to create the poppy seed butter. Reserve half for brushing later.
- Slice the Rolls: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice the 12 KING HAWAIIAN sweet rolls horizontally in half, keeping them connected so they don’t separate completely. Place the bottom halves cut side up in the prepared baking dish.
- Layer the Fillings: Evenly layer the thinly sliced turkey over the bottom halves of the rolls. Spread ⅔ cup of cranberry sauce over the turkey, and then layer ½ pound of thinly sliced Swiss cheese on top of the cranberry sauce. Finally, place the top halves of the rolls on top to complete the slider assembly.
- Brush with Poppy Seed Butter: Brush the top of the assembled rolls with half of the reserved poppy seed butter to add flavor and help with browning.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted thoroughly.
- Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue to bake uncovered for an additional 5 to 8 minutes, or until the tops of the rolls become slightly crispy and golden brown.
- Final Butter Brush and Rest: Remove the sliders from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the remaining poppy seed butter. Let them sit for a few minutes to allow the butter to absorb and the sliders to settle.
- Serve: Cut the baked sliders into individual sandwiches and serve immediately while warm and melty.
Notes
- Make Ahead: Assemble the sliders a day ahead but do not brush with poppy seed butter before refrigerating. Cover and refrigerate overnight, then brush with butter and bake when ready.
- Leftovers: Store any leftover sliders tightly wrapped in plastic or foil in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Freezing: Freeze sliders made with fresh turkey (not previously frozen) for up to 3 months. To reheat, bake from frozen at 350ºF for 20 to 25 minutes until heated through.
