Description

A simple and delicious turkey burger recipe featuring lean ground turkey seasoned with Italian herbs and spices, grilled or cooked on a cast iron skillet to juicy perfection. Perfect for a quick, healthy meal with customizable toppings.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 5 hamburger buns

Toppings (optional)

  • Lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced onion
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, beaten egg, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce (or tamari), garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and ground pepper until all ingredients are well combined.
  2. Form Patties: Using your hands, shape the mixture into 5 evenly sized patties, ensuring they are firm but not too compact.
  3. Choose Cooking Method – Grilling: Preheat your grill or grill pan. Cook the patties on the grill for about 5-7 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the center is no longer pink.
  4. Or Cook in Cast Iron Skillet: Heat a small amount of oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat on the stovetop. Cook the patties for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side until fully cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
  5. Serve: Place the cooked patties immediately onto hamburger buns and add desired toppings such as lettuce, sliced tomatoes, onions, ketchup, and mustard. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the turkey is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F for food safety.
  • You can substitute Worcestershire sauce with tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • Adjust seasonings according to your taste preferences.
  • Ground turkey is leaner than beef, so do not overcook to keep burgers juicy.
  • Use a thermometer for best results to avoid dryness.
