Description

These Turkey Bruschetta Burgers are a fresh and flavorful twist on classic burgers, featuring juicy grilled turkey patties topped with a vibrant tomato basil bruschetta, creamy burrata cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Perfect for a light yet satisfying meal in about 40 minutes, this recipe combines the savory flavors of grilled turkey with the bright, tangy notes of bruschetta for a crowd-pleasing dish.

Ingredients

Bruschetta

  • 2 cups diced tomatoes (seeds and most of juice removed)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 1 clove garlic, grated or minced
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Turkey Burgers

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste (about 3/4 teaspoon salt used)

Toppings and Serving

  • 2 ounces burrata cheese or fresh mozzarella (optional)
  • Balsamic glaze
  • 4 buns, toasted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bruschetta: In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, fresh chopped basil, grated or minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together and taste to adjust seasoning. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
  2. Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high. Clean the grill grates thoroughly and brush or spray them with oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Make the turkey patties: In a large bowl, mix the lean ground turkey with chopped fresh basil, balsamic vinegar, dried basil, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper using your hands. Be careful not to overwork the meat, then shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  4. Grill the burgers: Place the patties on the preheated grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). During the last couple of minutes, place the burrata or mozzarella cheese on top of each patty to melt slightly. At the same time, place the buns cut side down on the grill to toast them.
  5. Assemble and serve: Place each turkey burger on a toasted bun. Top generously with the prepared bruschetta mixture and drizzle with balsamic glaze. Serve immediately and enjoy your fresh Turkey Bruschetta Burgers.

Notes

  • Removing the seeds and the majority of juice from the tomatoes in the bruschetta helps prevent soggy burgers.
  • If burrata cheese is unavailable, fresh mozzarella is a great substitute or you can skip the cheese entirely.
  • You can use a grill pan or stovetop skillet if a grill is not available, just adjust cooking times accordingly.
  • Balsamic glaze can be store-bought or homemade by reducing balsamic vinegar until thickened.
  • Make sure to let the turkey patties rest a few minutes after grilling to lock in juices.
