Description
Celebrate Halloween with this fun and festive Creepy Halloween Spider Web Pizza, featuring a crispy golden crust topped with marinara sauce, a spider web made from string cheese strips, and creepy olive spiders. Perfect for adding spooky flair to your dinner or party table in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Pizza Base
- 1 (14- to 16-ounce) ball pizza dough
- ⅔ to ¾ cup Super-Easy Marinara Sauce (or your favorite store-bought pizza sauce)
Toppings
- 4 sticks whole-milk string cheese
- 12 large pitted black olives
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven. Preheat to 500°F if using a baking sheet, or as high as it will go if using a baking stone or steel, placing the stone or steel in the oven before preheating.
- Prepare Spiderweb and Spider Toppings. Pull string cheese sticks into thin strips for the web. Cut olives in half lengthwise; set aside 8 halves as spider bodies, and cut the remaining 4 halves lengthwise into 4 equal strips each for spider legs.
- Roll Out the Dough. Stretch or roll out the pizza dough into a 12- to 14-inch circle and transfer it to a baking sheet, pizza pan, or lightly floured pizza peel. Prick the dough all over with a fork to prevent bubbles during baking.
- Spread the Sauce. Evenly spread the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
- Initial Bake. Bake the sauced dough in the oven until the crust looks dry and lightly golden and the sauce is bubbling but not browned—approximately 3 minutes on a stone or steel, or 5 minutes on a baking sheet.
- Assemble the Spiderweb and Spiders. Remove pizza from the oven. Quickly arrange string cheese strips on top in a spiderweb pattern. Place spider bodies (whole olive halves) and attach spider legs (thin olive strips) around each body wherever you desire on the web.
- Final Bake. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese melts but does not brown excessively.
- Serve. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, slice, and serve your spooky spider web pizza!
Notes
- Pricking the dough with a fork prevents bubbles and keeps the spiderweb design neat.
- Use whole-milk string cheese for better melting and easier tearing into strips.
- You can customize the pizza sauce based on preference, using homemade or store-bought.
- Work quickly when assembling the web and spiders to keep the dough from overcooking before the final bake.
- This recipe makes one 12- to 14-inch pizza, perfect for one serving or sharing as a snack.
