Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 28 oz frozen tater tots (Sonic brand recommended)
- 2 cups whole milk yogurt (plain)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Toppings and Garnishes
- ⅓ cup onion (finely chopped)
- ¼ cup mint chutney
- ¼ cup tamarind chutney
- 10 papdi (broken)
- 2 tablespoons sev (thin sev preferred)
- ¼ cup cilantro (finely chopped)
- Cumin powder (to sprinkle)
- Chaat masala (to sprinkle)
- Kashmiri red chili powder (to sprinkle)
Instructions
- Cook the tater tots: Preheat your oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the entire 28 oz bag of frozen tater tots evenly on the sheet. Bake for 26 to 27 minutes until crispy, following package instructions.
- Prepare the yogurt mixture: While the tater tots bake, combine 2 cups of plain whole milk yogurt with 1 tablespoon sugar and ¼ teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Whisk together with a wire whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Assemble yogurt layer: Once the tater tots are done, let them cool slightly. Take a serving plate and spread the yogurt mixture evenly over the surface using a spatula. Optionally, reserve some yogurt to drizzle on top later. Sprinkle the yogurt with cumin powder, chaat masala, and Kashmiri red chili powder to taste.
- Layer the tater tots: Arrange the baked tater tots in a single layer over the yogurt on the plate. Sprinkle additional cumin powder, chaat masala, red chili powder, and a pinch of salt over the tots for extra flavor.
- Add chutneys and toppings: Scatter finely chopped onions over the tater tots. Drizzle ¼ cup mint chutney and ¼ cup tamarind chutney evenly. Sprinkle more chaat masala, cumin powder, and chili powder on top. Crush 10 papdi by hand and sprinkle over the chaat, followed by 2 tablespoons of thin sev. Finish by adding ¼ cup chopped cilantro for freshness. Optionally, drizzle any reserved yogurt on top.
