Description

Strawberry Kiss Cookies are a delightful treat combining a moist strawberry cake mix base with creamy cream cheese, all topped with a classic chocolate Hershey’s Kiss. These soft, fruity cookies are perfect for parties, holidays, or any occasion that calls for a burst of sweetness and a touch of color.

Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) strawberry cake mix
  • 8 tablespoons (1/2 cup) butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened

Optional Topping

  • Powdered sugar or pink granulated sugar, for rolling

Decoration

  • 30 chocolate Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Mix until the batter is smooth and uniform.
  2. Add cream cheese: Incorporate the softened cream cheese into the mixture, mixing well until the dough is thick and fully blended.
  3. Chill the dough: Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up, which will make shaping easier.
  4. Preheat oven and prepare tray: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  5. Shape the cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and form them into balls.
  6. Optional sugar coating: Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar or pink granulated sugar if desired, or place them plain onto the baking sheet.
  7. Bake the cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
  8. Add the chocolate kiss: Let the cookies rest for 1 to 2 minutes after removal from the oven, then gently press one unwrapped chocolate Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
  9. Cool completely: Transfer the cookies to a wire rack and allow them to cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overbake to keep the centers soft and chewy.
  • Chilling the dough is essential for easy handling and to prevent spreading during baking.
  • Using pink sugar adds extra sparkle and enhances the strawberry theme.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • You can substitute the chocolate Hershey’s Kisses with your favorite chocolate candies if preferred.
