Description
This Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake is a luscious and easy-to-make dessert featuring a delicious layer of creamy cheesecake nestled between fresh strawberries and sweet strawberry pie filling, all topped with buttery vanilla cake mix. Perfect for casual gatherings or satisfying your sweet tooth with minimal effort.
Ingredients
Fruit Layer
- 2 cans of strawberry pie filling (21 ounce cans)
- 2 cups fresh sliced strawberries
Cheesecake Layer
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup white sugar
Topping
- 1 (15.25 ounce) box vanilla cake mix
- 12 tablespoons melted, salted butter
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dump cake.
- Add Fruit Filling: Pour the two cans of strawberry pie filling into a 9×13 inch baking dish evenly to create the base layer.
- Fold in Fresh Strawberries: Gently fold the 2 cups of fresh sliced strawberries into the pie filling, distributing the fruit throughout.
- Prepare Cheesecake Mixture: In a separate bowl, use a hand mixer to blend the softened cream cheese, white sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy.
- Spread Cheesecake Layer: Spoon or pour the cheesecake mixture evenly over the strawberry layers in the baking dish. Spread gently as much as possible; perfection is not required.
- Sprinkle Cake Mix: Evenly sprinkle the entire box of vanilla cake mix over the cheesecake layer.
- Add Butter: Drizzle the melted, salted butter evenly over the cake mix layer. It won’t cover everything but will melt and spread during baking.
- Bake: Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool: Allow the cake to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving to let the layers set.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh strawberries with frozen strawberries if fresh are unavailable; just thaw and drain excess liquid.
- Make sure cream cheese is softened for easier mixing and a smooth cheesecake layer.
- This dessert is best served slightly warm but can also be chilled and served cold.
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of lemon zest to the cheesecake mixture.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
