Description
A quick and flavorful Spicy Tuna Salad combining canned tuna with jalapeño, dried onion, garlic, and a touch of cayenne pepper for heat. This creamy salad is enhanced with sweet spicy pickles and pickled juice, perfect for a speedy snack or light meal served on toasted bread or enjoyed on its own.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 7-10 oz canned tuna (drained, rinsed optional)
- 1 jalapeño, diced
- 1 Tbsp dried onion
- 1 Tbsp dried garlic
- ½-1 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ⅓-½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sweet spicy pickles, chopped (or pickle jalapeños)
- 3-4 Tbsp sweet spicy pickle juice (or jalapeño juice)
- 2 tsp cilantro, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients. Finely dice the jalapeño and chop the cilantro if using. Optionally, rinse the canned tuna under cold water to remove excess canned liquid and drain thoroughly.
- Mix Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the drained tuna, diced jalapeño, dried onion, dried garlic, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, mayonnaise, chopped sweet spicy pickles, and pickle juice. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
- Adjust & Serve: Taste the salad and add more mayonnaise or cayenne pepper as needed to suit your preferences. Garnish with extra chopped cilantro if desired. Serve the spicy tuna salad on toasted bread or enjoy it on its own.
Notes
- The cayenne pepper amount can be adjusted based on your heat preference.
- Draining and rinsing the canned tuna helps reduce excess moisture but is optional.
- Sweet spicy pickles can be substituted with pickle jalapeños for a different flavor twist.
- Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days for best freshness.
