Description

These Spicy Blackened Chicken Sliders feature tender, marinated chicken tenders cooked with bold blackened seasoning, topped with melted cheese, a zesty homemade sauce, and fresh toppings all tucked into soft, toasted King’s Hawaiian slider buns. Perfect for a quick and flavorful appetizer or crowd-pleasing snack.

Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1.5 lbs chicken tenders
  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil (or oil of choice)
  • 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning mix

Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Butter Mixture for Buns

  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced

Sliders Assembly

  • 1 pack King’s Hawaiian slider rolls or dinner rolls
  • 6 slices cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, or pepper jack)
  • Shredded iceberg or romaine lettuce
  • Sliced red onion
  • Dill pickle slices

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl or ziplock bag, combine the chicken tenders with avocado oil and blackened seasoning mix. Mix well to coat evenly. Set aside and let marinate while preparing the other components.
  2. Prepare Sauce and Butter Mixture: Whisk together mayonnaise, brown sugar, hot sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl to form the sauce. In another small bowl, whisk together melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley for the butter mixture.
  3. Cut and Prepare Slider Buns: Line a baking sheet with foil and slice the slider rolls in half horizontally. Place them cut-side up on the baking sheet and set aside.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken tenders and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until they are charred and cooked through. Ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F for safety.
  5. Toast the Buns: While chicken cooks, spread the garlic parsley butter mixture over the tops of the buns (not the bottom halves). Place the baking sheet under the oven broiler for about 2 minutes until buns are lightly golden and crispy. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  6. Assemble the Sliders: On the bottom halves of the toasted buns, evenly layer the cooked chicken tenders, then top each with a slice of cheese. Add shredded lettuce, sliced red onion, and dill pickle slices. Drizzle or spread the prepared sauce over the toppings. Cover each with the top bun halves.
  7. Serve: Break the sliders apart and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use your favorite blackened seasoning mix or make your own for a custom spice profile.
  • For extra heat, add more hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.
  • Ensure chicken is cooked thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
  • King’s Hawaiian rolls are recommended for their sweet, soft texture that balances the spicy chicken perfectly.
  • These sliders are best enjoyed fresh but can be kept in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
