Ingredients
Pasta
- 1 lb Spaghetti
Meat Sauce
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 1 cup Chopped yellow onion
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 (24 oz) jar Favorite pasta sauce
Alfredo Sauce
- 1 stick Unsalted butter (8 tablespoons)
- 2 cups Heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups Finely grated Parmesan cheese
Topping
- 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Cook Pasta: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles well and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
- Prepare Meat Sauce: While the pasta cooks, heat a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and use a wooden spoon to break it up. Cook for about 5 minutes until the beef is no longer pink. Season with kosher salt and black pepper. Add the chopped yellow onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes more, or until the onion has softened. Stir in the jar of pasta sauce and reduce the heat to low to let the sauce simmer gently.
- Make Alfredo Sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the heavy whipping cream and stir to combine. Add the onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Continue stirring and gradually add the finely grated Parmesan cheese. Stir the mixture until it slightly thickens and becomes smooth.
- Combine Pasta with Alfredo Sauce: Pour the prepared Alfredo sauce over the cooked spaghetti in the large bowl and toss gently until the noodles are evenly coated.
- Assemble the Casserole: Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Spread the Alfredo-coated spaghetti evenly in the dish. Spoon the meat sauce evenly over the top of the noodles. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the meat sauce layer.
- Bake and Serve: Bake the casserole uncovered in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the top is bubbly and golden brown. Once out of the oven, garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Cook the spaghetti just until al dente, as it will continue cooking in the oven.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for ground beef as a lighter option.
- If you prefer a spicier sauce, add red pepper flakes to the meat sauce.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and smooth sauce consistency.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after baking to allow it to set before serving.
