These Smoked Salmon Crisps are a delightful and elegant appetizer featuring creamy cream cheese and sour cream spread over crunchy kettle-style potato chips, topped with savory smoked salmon, tangy capers, and fresh chives. Perfect for parties or casual gatherings, they offer a perfect balance of smoky, creamy, and fresh flavors in every bite.
Ingredients
Cheese Spread
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- Pinch salt
Toppings
- 8 oz smoked salmon
- A few tablespoons capers, drained
- A few tablespoons minced fresh chives
Base
- 30 large potato chips, preferably kettle-style ripple cut
Instructions
- Prepare the spread: In a small bowl, mix the sour cream, softened cream cheese, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined, forming a creamy base for the crisps.
- Assemble the crisps: On each potato chip, place a folded piece of smoked salmon. Then, add about ¾ teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture on top of the salmon. Finish each crisp by garnishing with a few capers and a sprinkle of minced fresh chives.
- Serve immediately: Arrange the prepared crisps on a platter and serve right away to ensure the chips remain crunchy and fresh.
Notes
- Use kettle-style rippled potato chips for the sturdiest base and ample space for toppings.
- Regular kettle chips can be too small and curled, which may make assembly difficult.
- Regular rippled potato chips also work but may not be as crunchy as the kettle-style ones.
- Serve immediately to prevent chips from becoming soggy.
