Description
These Slow Cooker Garlic Parmesan Wings are tender and flavorful chicken wings cooked low and slow in a crockpot, then finished in the oven for a crispy, cheesy coating. Perfectly seasoned with smoky paprika, garlic, and onion powder, then tossed in a buttery Parmesan-garlic sauce and baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
Seasoning Mix
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Wings & Sauce
- 4 pounds chicken wings (fresh or frozen)
- ½ cup salted butter
- ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 4 cloves garlic (pressed)
Instructions
- Prepare seasoning mix: In a small bowl, combine salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir well to blend the spices evenly.
- Coat the wings: Place the chicken wings into the crockpot. Sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over the wings, then stir gently to ensure all wings are fully coated with the spices.
- Slow cook the wings: Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on high heat for 3-4 hours or on low heat for 5-6 hours until the wings are tender and cooked through.
- Preheat the oven: Once wings are done cooking, preheat your oven to 425˚F (220˚C). Carefully remove the wings from the crockpot and transfer them to a large bowl. Try to remove excess liquid to help the sauce adhere better.
- Make the garlic parmesan sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and pressed garlic until well combined.
- Toss wings in sauce: Pour the garlic parmesan sauce over the wings and toss thoroughly to coat each wing evenly in the sauce.
- Bake to finish: Arrange the coated wings in a single layer on a baking sheet placed on the top rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 15-18 minutes until the wings develop a crispy, golden surface.
- Final garnish and serve: Remove the wings from the oven, brush them with any remaining sauce from the bowl, and garnish with additional grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- For best results, remove as much liquid as possible from the wings before tossing in the sauce to ensure better adhesion and crispiness.
- You can use either fresh or frozen wings; adjust cooking time slightly if wings are larger or frozen.
- To make the wings spicier, add cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the seasoning mix.
- Leftover wings can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for crispness.
- Fresh parsley adds a bright flavor to the sauce but can be substituted with dried parsley if fresh is not available (use 1 teaspoon dried).
