Description

These Shrimp Tacos with Bang Bang Sauce are a vibrant, flavorful meal perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or casual gathering. Tender garlic butter shrimp are paired with fresh vegetables and creamy avocado, all wrapped in warm flour tortillas and topped with a spicy-sweet bang bang sauce that adds a zesty kick.

Ingredients

Tortillas & Vegetables

  • 8 Flour Tortillas (6”-8” size)
  • Lettuce (thinly sliced, about 1 cup)
  • 1 medium Carrot (finely sliced)
  • 1 Bell Pepper (finely sliced)
  • 1 Avocado (finely sliced)
  • 2 Scallions (finely chopped)
  • Fresh Parsley (for garnish, about 2 tablespoons)
  • Lime Wedges (for serving)

Shrimp & Cooking

  • 1 lb Raw Shrimp (16/20 size, peeled and deveined)
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 4-5 Cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Parsley

Sauce

  • 1 recipe Bang Bang Sauce (prepared separately)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bang Bang Sauce: Prepare one recipe of bang bang sauce according to your preferred recipe, then place it in a reusable condiment container or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off for easy drizzling during assembly.
  2. Warm the Flour Tortillas: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Stack the flour tortillas and wrap them tightly in aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until warm and pliable. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  3. Cook the Garlic Butter Shrimp: In a large deep skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add olive oil and minced garlic; sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned. Increase heat to medium and add the peeled and deveined shrimp. Cook shrimp for 3-4 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are fully cooked through.
  4. Add Parsley to Shrimp: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the dried parsley for added flavor. Set the shrimp aside.
  5. Assemble the Shrimp Tacos: On each warmed tortilla, layer the sliced lettuce, carrot, bell pepper, avocado, scallions, and fresh parsley. Top with 4-5 pieces of garlic butter shrimp, then drizzle generously with bang bang sauce. Repeat until all tacos are assembled.
  6. Serve: Serve the shrimp tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top to add bright acidity.

Notes

  • Ensure shrimp are peeled and deveined for the best texture and taste.
  • Adjust the bang bang sauce spiciness to your preference.
  • For extra crispness, consider using fresh corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas.
  • Tortillas can be kept warm wrapped in foil in a low oven if preparing ahead.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor; avoid pre-minced garlic for sautéing.
