This Salted Caramel Pretzel Bark is a delightful sweet and salty treat featuring smooth semi-sweet chocolate, crunchy mini pretzels, and rich caramel. Perfect as a snack or dessert, this easy-to-make bark combines creamy caramel and chocolate with a touch of sea salt on crunchy pretzels for a satisfying bite-sized indulgence.
Ingredients
Chocolate Layer
- 1 (12 oz) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 2 cups)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Pretzel Layer
- 8 oz mini pretzel twists (1/2 of a 16 oz bag)
Caramel Layer
- 1 (11 oz) bag Kraft caramel bits
- 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips with vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each interval, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
- Prepare Base Layer: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Spread three-quarters of the melted chocolate into an even layer on the sheet, reserving the remaining chocolate for later use.
- Add Pretzels: Scatter the mini pretzel twists evenly over the melted chocolate layer, gently pressing them down so they adhere well to the chocolate.
- Melt Caramel: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel bits with heavy whipping cream. Microwave again in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the caramel mixture is melted smoothly and well combined.
- Drizzle Caramel and Chocolate: Evenly pour the melted caramel mixture over the pretzels, then drizzle the reserved melted chocolate on top to create a marbled effect.
- Set the Bark: Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill until the chocolate and caramel layers are set and firm, about 20-30 minutes. Once set, break or cut the bark into pieces and serve.
Notes
- You can substitute mini pretzel twists with pretzel rods broken into smaller pieces if preferred.
- Ensure stirring between microwave intervals to prevent burning and ensure even melting.
- Store the bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and prevent melting.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the caramel before chilling.
- Use silicone mats or parchment paper to avoid sticking and make cleanup easier.
