Description

A quick and flavorful garlic noodle recipe made with simple ingredients like oyster sauce, garlic, and butter. This easy dish comes together in just 25 minutes, perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Sauce:

  • 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil

Pasta and Aromatics:

  • 8 oz angel hair pasta
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 bunch green onions, sliced (reserve some for garnish)
  • 4 Tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, combine oyster sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, and toasted sesame oil. Stir well until the sugar dissolves and the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the angel hair pasta and cook according to the package directions, usually 7-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain the noodles thoroughly using a colander and set aside.
  3. Sauté garlic and green onions: While the pasta cooks, mince the garlic and slice the green onions, reserving a few slices for garnish. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Once melted and bubbly, add the minced garlic and most of the sliced green onions. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until they become soft and fragrant, taking care not to burn the garlic.
  4. Combine and serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Add the drained pasta and the prepared oyster sauce mixture to the skillet. Stir thoroughly to coat the noodles evenly. If the noodles are stiff or sticking together, sprinkle a small amount of hot water over them and stir to loosen. Garnish with the reserved green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute angel hair pasta with thin spaghetti or linguine if preferred.
  • Oyster sauce adds a savory depth; for a vegetarian option, use a vegetarian oyster sauce or mushroom sauce.
  • Adjust the brown sugar to taste for a sweeter or more savory balance.
  • Make sure to sauté the garlic gently to avoid bitterness from burning.
