Description

This rich and indulgent Peanut Butter Chocolate Gooey Butter Cake combines a devil’s food cake base with a creamy, peanut butter-infused filling. Baked to perfection, this dessert boasts a slightly gooey center and a sweet, buttery crust, making it a perfect treat to serve with whipped cream or ice cream for any occasion.

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 (18.25-oz) package Devil’s food cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

For the Filling:

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 (16-ounce) box powdered sugar (approximately 3 3/4 cups)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish to prevent the cake from sticking.
  2. Make the Cake Base: Combine the Devil’s food cake mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup melted butter in a mixing bowl. Mix well using an electric mixer until fully incorporated. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the cake layer.
  3. Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and creamy peanut butter together until smooth and creamy. Add the 3 eggs, vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup melted butter, beating thoroughly. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue mixing until the filling is smooth and well combined.
  4. Assemble and Bake: Pour the peanut butter filling mixture evenly over the cake base in the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes. Be careful not to overbake; the center should still be a little gooey but will firm up as it cools.
  5. Serve: Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream for an extra indulgent dessert experience.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to ensure the gooey texture in the center.
  • The cake is best served after it has fully cooled and set.
  • For easier slicing, chill the cake in the refrigerator before serving.
  • Use creamy peanut butter for the smoothest filling.
