Ingredients
Eggs
- 6 extra large eggs
- ¾ cup water
Filling
- 3 Tablespoons mayo
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic salt
- a dash of pickle juice or water (optional, to thin)
Garnish (optional)
- diced green onion or chives
- smoked paprika
Instructions
- Prepare Eggs: Place 6 extra large eggs on a rack inside your Instant Pot or Ninja Foodi pressure cooker along with ¾ cup of water to set up for pressure cooking.
- Make Ice Bath: Prepare a large mixing bowl filled with ice and water to create an ice bath for shocking the eggs after cooking.
- Pressure Cook Eggs: Close the cooker valve and set to pressure cook on high for 5 minutes. After cooking, allow the pressure to naturally release for an additional 5 minutes.
- Release Pressure and Cool: Manually release any remaining pressure, then quickly transfer the eggs to the ice bath to cool for 5 minutes, preventing overcooking and easing peeling.
- Peel and Slice Eggs: Drain the ice bath water, remove shells from eggs, and slice each egg in half lengthwise carefully.
- Remove Yolks: Gently scoop out the yolks from each egg half into a small mixing bowl using a small spoon.
- Make Filling: Add mayo, garlic powder, onion powder, yellow mustard, garlic salt, and a dash of pickle juice or water if needed to thin the mixture. Stir very well until smooth and creamy.
- Fill Egg Whites: Transfer the yolk mixture into a piping bag and pipe into 10 of the egg halves with a decorative swirl pattern. Leave 2 halves plain for a quick snack.
- Chill: Place filled eggs into an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and filling to set.
- Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish the deviled eggs with diced green onions or chives and a sprinkle of smoked paprika for added flavor and presentation.
