Description

Crispy, golden Parmesan Crusted Brussels Sprouts baked to perfection with a flavorful buttery and spice paste, served alongside creamy aioli for a delicious side dish or appetizer.

Ingredients

Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, halved

Seasoning & Coating

  • 4 tablespoons Danish Creamery salted butter, melted
  • ½ cup grated Parmigiano Reggiano
  • ½ teaspoon fresh basil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Serving

  • Aioli, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Melt Butter: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the 4 tablespoons of salted butter in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven for about 5 minutes, allowing the butter to melt completely.
  2. Prepare Spice-Parmesan Paste: Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven and stir in the grated Parmigiano Reggiano, fresh basil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper into the melted butter. Mix until all the ingredients combine into a smooth, flavorful paste. Use a spatula to spread this paste evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Arrange Brussels Sprouts: Place the halved Brussels sprouts cut side down on top of the butter and spice paste in the baking dish, ensuring they are arranged evenly for uniform cooking.
  4. Bake Until Crispy: Bake the Brussels sprouts in the oven at 425°F for about 35 minutes, or until they become golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  5. Serve: Remove the baked Brussels sprouts from the oven and transfer them to a serving platter. Serve immediately with aioli on the side for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh, firm Brussels sprouts for the best crispiness.
  • Ensure the Brussels sprouts are cut side down in the baking dish for optimal caramelization.
  • The grated Parmigiano Reggiano adds a rich umami flavor and forms a delicious crust.
  • Adjust paprika and garlic powder amounts to taste for spiciness and aroma.
  • Aioli pairs beautifully with the savory, cheesy Brussels sprouts but is optional.
  • For a dairy-free alternative, substitute butter with olive oil and omit the cheese.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated for best texture maintenance.
