Description

Delight in these easy-to-make Nutella Puff Pastries, featuring flaky, golden puff pastry filled with creamy hazelnut spread. Perfect as a sweet treat or dessert, these pastries are simple to prepare with minimal ingredients and bake quickly to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Puff Pastry

  • 1 package prepared puff pastry (thawed)

Filling

  • ¾ cup Nutella hazelnut spread

Egg Wash & Topping

  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp confectioners’ sugar (powdered sugar)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pastry: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Unwrap the thawed puff pastry sheets and lay them on a clean countertop or cutting board. Gently roll each sheet out slightly to increase their size without making them too thin. This step helps you get extra pastries from the package.
  2. Spread Nutella: Evenly spread the Nutella hazelnut spread over one puff pastry sheet, covering every corner and edge. Carefully place the second pastry sheet on top, aligning the edges and corners to sandwich the Nutella evenly.
  3. Cut Strips: Using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife, cut the layered pastries into ½ inch wide strips to create individual pastry strips.
  4. Twist and Shape: Twist each strip gently, then coil it into a swirl shape. Place the twisted swirls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Apply Egg Wash and Bake: Crack the eggs into a small bowl and whisk them well to make an egg wash. Brush each pastry swirl generously with the egg wash to ensure a beautiful golden glaze. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and flaky.
  6. Cool and Dust: Allow the pastries to cool for a few minutes after baking. Dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving for a sweet finishing touch. Enjoy warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed before rolling and shaping to prevent cracking.
  • You can substitute Nutella with any other chocolate-hazelnut spread or even a fruit jam for variation.
  • If you prefer, sprinkle some chopped nuts on top before baking for added crunch.
  • Store leftover pastries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven to regain flakiness.
