Perfect for a quick and easy treat that requires no oven time, it sets in the fridge and is a delightful crowd-pleaser for peanut butter lovers.
Ingredients
Crust
- 24 Double Stuf Oreos
- 5 Tablespoons butter
Filling
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz. Cool Whip (or similar whipped topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oreo Crust: Process the 24 Double Stuf Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a thick plastic bag and crushing them with a rolling pin. Transfer the crumbs to a pie plate.
- Mix with Butter: Melt the 5 tablespoons of butter and pour it over the Oreo crumbs. Mix with your hands until all crumbs are evenly coated in butter.
- Form the Crust: Press the butter-coated crumbs firmly into the bottom and sides of the pie plate to create an even crust. Use the bottom of a glass or measuring cup to help apply firm, even pressure for a compact crust.
- Chill the Crust: Refrigerate the crust for at least 10 minutes to let the butter set and the crust firm up.
- Make the Filling: In a large bowl, beat the softened 8 oz. cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add 1 cup creamy peanut butter and ¾ cup powdered sugar, and mix until well combined.
- Add Whipped Topping: Spoon in half of the 8 oz. whipped topping and stir thoroughly to incorporate it. Then gently fold in the remaining whipped topping until the mixture is uniform and fluffy.
- Assemble the Pie: Spoon the peanut butter filling evenly into the chilled Oreo crust. Smooth the top and add any desired toppings such as chopped peanuts or chocolate shavings.
- Chill to Set: Refrigerate the entire pie for at least 2 hours before serving to allow it to set and firm up for the best texture.
Notes
- For a firmer crust, chill longer or press more firmly when forming the crust.
- Use creamy peanut butter for a smooth texture; crunchy peanut butter will change the filling consistency.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Optional toppings like chocolate chips, crushed peanuts, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce complement the flavors well.
