Description

This Ninja Foodi BBQ Chicken Breast recipe is a quick and flavorful way to prepare juicy, tender chicken using the air fryer function of the Ninja Foodi. Seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic salt, and a smoky BBQ sauce, this dish is perfect for a simple yet delicious weeknight dinner. The chicken is air fried to perfection, then brushed with BBQ sauce and air fried once more for a sticky, caramelized finish.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 3 chicken breasts (about 1 chicken breast per person)
  • Spray oil, as needed
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Smoked paprika, to taste
  • Garlic salt or garlic powder, to taste

Sauce

  • 80 ml BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken breasts: Remove any fatty parts from the chicken breasts and spray them evenly with spray oil to help seasonings stick and promote browning.
  2. Season the chicken: Sprinkle garlic salt, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper evenly over each chicken breast. Rub the seasonings thoroughly into the meat to cover all surfaces.
  3. Place in Ninja Foodi: Arrange the seasoned chicken breasts inside the Ninja Foodi crisper basket, ensuring they are spaced to allow air circulation.
  4. First air fry: Air fry the chicken breasts at 180°C (360°F) for 10 minutes to start cooking and browning.
  5. Flip chicken: Turn the chicken breasts over carefully and return them to the crisper basket for even cooking.
  6. Second air fry: Continue air frying at 180°C (360°F) for another 8 minutes until nearly cooked through.
  7. Add BBQ sauce: Brush the chicken breasts generously with 80 ml of BBQ sauce using a silicone pastry brush for even coverage; alternatively, spoon or pour the sauce if preferred.
  8. Final air fry: Air fry the sauced chicken breasts for an additional 2 minutes at 180°C (360°F) to caramelize the BBQ sauce.
  9. Check doneness: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the thickest part of the chicken reaches at least 74°C (165°F), indicating it is safely cooked.
  10. Rest the chicken: Let the chicken breasts rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute before slicing. Or serve whole alongside your dinner.

Notes

  • Ensure chicken breasts are roughly the same size for even cooking.
  • Adjust seasoning quantities to your taste preference.
  • If you don’t have a silicone pastry brush, use a spoon to apply BBQ sauce.
  • Resting the chicken helps retain moisture and improves texture.
  • Use a meat thermometer to guarantee safe internal temperature and avoid overcooking.
