Description

Deliciously rich and creamy Neiman Marcus Bars featuring a buttery yellow cake base topped with a smooth cream cheese and powdered sugar layer, baked to perfection for a delightful dessert treat.

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 2 large eggs (divided from 4)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Topping

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs (remaining from 4)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine Cake Base: In a medium bowl, mix the yellow cake mix, 2 of the eggs, and melted unsalted butter using an electric mixer until the batter is thick and well combined. Spread this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan using a rubber spatula.
  3. Prepare Topping: Without cleaning the bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, remaining 2 eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Spread Topping: Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter layer in the pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake: Bake the layered bars in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until the topping is set and lightly golden on the edges.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, slice into 24 servings and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for a smooth topping.
  • Using parchment paper can make removing the bars easier after baking.
  • Cool bars completely before slicing to prevent cracking or crumbling.
  • These bars can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
