Description

Classic Magic Cookie Bars featuring a buttery graham cracker crust topped with layers of semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, chopped pecans, shredded coconut, and drizzled with sweetened condensed milk for a rich, gooey treat baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 ½ cups (210g) graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup (112g) unsalted butter, melted

Toppings

  • 1 cup (169g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (169g) butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup (106g) chopped pecans
  • 1 cup (75g) shredded coconut
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Prepare a 9×13 baking pan by lining it with parchment paper, allowing the paper to overhang the sides for easy removal of the bars later.
  2. Make Crust: In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter until all crumbs are evenly moistened. Press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust layer.
  3. Add Toppings: Evenly sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butterscotch chips over the graham cracker crust. Follow by adding an even layer of chopped pecans and shredded coconut on top of the chips.
  4. Add Condensed Milk: Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over all the toppings, ensuring a good distribution to help bind the layers during baking.
  5. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is lightly browned and bubbling around the edges.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift out the entire block and cut into 15 squares for serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to press the crust firmly for a solid base that holds together well.
  • Allow bars to cool completely before cutting to ensure clean squares.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds based on preference.
