Description
This refreshing Key Lime Margarita is a delightful twist on the classic margarita, combining the tartness of key lime juice with the smoothness of blanco tequila and a hint of sweetness from triple sec and simple syrup. Perfect for summer gatherings or any time you want a zesty, citrusy cocktail with a salted rim.
Ingredients
For the Margarita
- ½ cup bottled key lime juice
- 1 cup tequila (preferably white/blanco)
- ½ cup triple sec
- ¼ cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- Ice, as needed
For Garnish and Glass Preparation
- Lime slices (for garnish)
- Salt (for rimming the glasses)
Instructions
- Prepare Glasses: Rub a lime slice around the rim of each glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into salt to coat it evenly. Fill each glass generously with ice to keep the cocktail chilled.
- Mix Drink: In a large pitcher, combine the bottled key lime juice, blanco tequila, triple sec, and simple syrup. Stir the mixture well to blend the flavors and dissolve the syrup completely.
- Serve: Pour the prepared margarita mixture over the ice in each salt-rimmed glass to keep the drink cool and refreshing.
- Garnish: Finish by garnishing each glass with a fresh lime slice on the rim or floated on top for an inviting presentation and added citrus aroma.
Notes
- To make your own simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, bring to a simmer until sugar dissolves, then cool before using.
- Adjust the simple syrup amount to achieve your preferred sweetness level.
- Use bottled key lime juice for convenience, or fresh key limes if available for a more vibrant flavor.
- Chill all ingredients beforehand for an even colder margarita.
