Description

This Homemade Gluten Free Hamburger Helper is a quick and comforting one-pot meal perfect for busy weeknights. Featuring tender ground beef simmered in a flavorful beef broth and tomato paste sauce with a blend of aromatic spices, it is combined with gluten free pasta to create a hearty dish everyone can enjoy. Easy to customize and naturally gluten free, this recipe brings classic comfort food to your table without the gluten.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cups low sodium beef broth
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust if needed)
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp all purpose gluten free flour (optional for thickening)
  • 12 oz gluten free pasta

Instructions

  1. Sauté Onions: Heat a dutch oven or large pan over medium heat and add the olive oil. Sauté the diced onions and minced garlic for 3-5 minutes until the onions become translucent and fragrant.
  2. Brown Beef: Add the ground beef to the pan and cook it thoroughly, breaking it up with a spoon until no pink remains.
  3. Simmer Ingredients: Pour in the beef broth, tomato paste, coconut aminos, Dijon mustard, chili powder, dried oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring the mixture to a low simmer.
  4. Thicken Sauce & Add Pasta: Sprinkle the gluten free flour over the mixture and whisk to combine evenly. Then add the gluten free pasta and return to a simmer.
  5. Cook Pasta: Cook uncovered for 10-12 minutes, stirring every few minutes to prevent sticking, until the pasta reaches an al dente texture and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Serve: Serve the hamburger helper warm, optionally topped with shredded cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for added spice.

Notes

  • The gluten free flour is optional but helps thicken the sauce for a creamier texture.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef if preferred.
  • Adjust the chili powder and red pepper flakes according to your heat preference.
  • To make this dish dairy-free, omit cheese or use a dairy-free alternative.
  • This recipe is best served fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
