Description

This Homemade Freezer Garlic Bread recipe lets you prepare garlic bread in advance and store it in the freezer for up to three months. Made with a flavorful garlic butter mixture spread over sliced French bread, it’s a convenient and delicious side that can be quickly baked to golden perfection whenever needed.

Ingredients

Garlic Butter Spread

  • 8 Tbsp salted butter, room temperature
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley

Bread

  • 1 loaf French bread

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garlic Butter Mixture: In a bowl, combine the salted butter, olive oil, minced garlic, garlic powder, salt, and dried parsley. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is fairly smooth and well blended.
  2. Slice Bread and Apply Spread: Cut the French bread into 1-inch thick slices, yielding approximately 12 to 16 slices depending on the loaf size. Spread 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of the garlic butter mixture evenly across each slice from edge to edge.
  3. Freeze the Prepared Bread: Lay the slices flat on a baking sheet and place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes to allow the butter spread to firm up. Afterward, transfer the frozen slices to a gallon-sized freezer bag and store them in the freezer for up to three months.
  4. Bake from Frozen: When ready to serve, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Take the desired number of frozen garlic bread slices and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the edges turn golden brown.
  5. Optional Softer Texture: For softer garlic bread without crispy edges, wrap the slices individually or as a batch in foil before baking.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter for easy mixing.
  • The garlic bread can be stored in the freezer for up to three months.
  • If you prefer a softer texture, baking the bread wrapped in foil helps retain moisture.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic butter spread depending on your taste preference.
  • Slicing the bread evenly helps ensure consistent baking.
