Description

Heaven On Earth Cake is a delightful no-bake dessert featuring layers of angel food cake, creamy vanilla pudding mixed with sour cream, and luscious cherry pie filling topped with cool whip and almonds. This chilled treat is easy to assemble and perfect for serving at gatherings or as a refreshing dessert on warm days.

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 (14-ounce) prepared Angel food cake, cut into 1 inch cubes

Pudding Layer

  • 1 (3.5-ounce) box instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sour cream

Toppings

  • 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (8-ounce) tub cool whip, thawed
  • Almonds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Layer Cake: Layer half of the angel food cake cubes evenly on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish to create the base layer.
  2. Add Cherry Filling: Pour two-thirds of the cherry pie filling evenly over the cake layer, ensuring it covers all areas.
  3. Second Cake Layer: Place the remaining angel food cake pieces over the cherry filling, creating the next cake layer.
  4. Prepare Pudding Mixture: In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the instant vanilla pudding mix, milk, and sour cream until smooth and fully combined.
  5. Spread Pudding: Spoon and evenly spread the pudding mixture over the top layer of cake.
  6. Top with Cool Whip: Spread the thawed cool whip evenly over the pudding layer.
  7. Garnish and Chill: Garnish the top with the remaining cherry pie filling and sprinkle almonds on top. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Use a prepared angel food cake to save time; you can find it in most grocery stores.
  • Chilling the cake for 4 to 5 hours allows the flavors to meld and the layers to set well.
  • Feel free to substitute cherry pie filling with other fruit pie fillings like blueberry or peach for variation.
  • For a nut-free option, omit the almonds or substitute with toasted coconut flakes.
  • The dessert is best served chilled and does not require baking, making it simple and quick to prepare.
