Description

These Ham and Cheese Sliders are a perfect party snack or quick dinner option featuring savory ham and melted Swiss cheese on soft Hawaiian rolls, topped with a flavorful butter glaze infused with Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, and Worcestershire sauce. Baked to golden perfection, they are deliciously gooey and easy to prepare in under 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Butter Mixture

  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Sliders

  • 1 (12-pack) Hawaiian rolls
  • 12 slices cooked deli ham
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the melted butter, Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce, and onion powder until well combined. This flavorful glaze will soak into the rolls while baking.
  3. Prepare the Rolls: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally to separate the tops from the bottoms. Arrange the bottom halves evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Layer the Fillings: Place half of the ham slices over the bottom rolls, then layer all slices of Swiss cheese evenly on top. Follow this with the remaining ham slices, creating a layered sandwich inside the rolls.
  5. Assemble and Glaze: Place the top halves of the rolls over the ham and cheese layer. Pour the prepared butter mixture evenly over the entire top surface to add moisture and flavor during baking.
  6. Bake Covered: Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes. This allows the cheese to melt and the flavors to meld without drying out the rolls.
  7. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes. This step crisps the tops of the rolls to a lovely golden color.
  8. Serve: Once baked, slice the sliders individually and serve warm for a delicious and satisfying meal or snack.

Notes

  • Use a serrated knife to cut the rolls easily without squishing them.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or Dijon mustard inside the sliders before layering.
  • Substitute Swiss cheese with cheddar or provolone if preferred.
  • These sliders can be made ahead of time, assembled and refrigerated overnight before baking.
  • Reheat leftovers covered with foil at 350°F until warmed through to maintain softness.
