Description

A hearty and flavorful Ground Beef and Gravy recipe that combines browned beef with a rich, creamy gravy seasoned with garlic, onion, and Worcestershire sauce. Perfect served over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta for a comforting meal ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 cups of beef broth

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook 1 lb of ground beef until no pink remains. Drain excess grease if needed to keep the dish from being too oily.
  2. Sauté and thicken: Reduce heat to medium, add 2 tablespoons of butter and let it melt. Stir in 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon minced onion, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, mixing continuously until the flour is fully integrated with the butter and aromatics.
  3. Add broth and simmer: Gradually pour in 2 cups of beef broth while stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Stir in 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for 4-5 minutes until the gravy thickens to a smooth and creamy consistency.
  4. Serve: Spoon the rich ground beef gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Drain excess grease from browned beef to prevent a greasy gravy.
  • Stir flour thoroughly with butter and aromatics to avoid lumps in the gravy.
  • Simmer gently to thicken the gravy without burning it.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt if needed, as Worcestershire sauce adds some saltiness.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated gently on stovetop.
