Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon chili garlic paste (optional)
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 pound ground sirloin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 cups napa cabbage (chopped) or any kind of cabbage
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Garnish (Optional)
- Minced scallions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the aromatics and heat the pan: Heat a large wok or sauté pan over high heat. Add the sesame oil, chili garlic paste (if using), minced garlic, and minced ginger. Cook while stirring frequently until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Brown the ground beef: Add the ground sirloin to the pan along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Use a wooden spoon to break the meat into bite-sized pieces. Continue to sauté, stirring frequently, until the beef is fully browned, about 6 to 8 minutes.
- Add cabbage and seasonings: Add the chopped napa cabbage to the pan along with sugar, additional salt and pepper to taste, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and water. Stir everything well to combine.
- Sauté until cabbage is tender: Continue cooking the stir-fry until the cabbage softens, approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve and garnish: Remove from heat and transfer to plates. Garnish with minced scallions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- You can swap napa cabbage for green or savoy cabbage if preferred.
- Adjust the amount of chili garlic paste to control spice level or omit for milder flavor.
- Serve over steamed rice or with your favorite noodles for a complete meal.
- For a lower sodium option, use low-sodium soy sauce and reduce added salt.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
