Ingredients
Chicken Wings
- 2 lb Chicken wings
Marinade and Sauce
- 1/4 cup Gochujang paste
- 1/4 cup Soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Minced garlic
- 1 tbsp Minced ginger
- 1 tbsp Sesame oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine gochujang paste, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and honey. Stir thoroughly until you achieve a dark red, thick liquid consistency.
- Marinate the Wings: Pour half of the prepared sauce over the chicken wings. Toss to coat evenly and let the wings marinate for 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to 350°F and set it for indirect grilling, ensuring the heat is not directly beneath the wings to prevent burning.
- Grill the Wings: Place the marinated wings directly onto the grill grates and cook for 45 to 60 minutes, flipping halfway through. Grill until the internal temperature of the wings reaches 185°F and the skin looks beautifully caramelized.
- Brush with Remaining Sauce: During the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush the wings with the leftover gochujang sauce to enhance flavor and create a sticky glaze.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the wings from the grill and allow them to rest for 5 to 10 minutes. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions before serving. Enjoy your flavorful grilled gochujang wings!
Notes
- Marinating time can be extended up to 2 hours for a more intense flavor.
- To check for doneness, use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 185°F for tender wings.
- If you don’t have a grill, these wings can also be cooked in an oven or air fryer with adjustments in cooking time.
- Adjust the sweetness or spice level by modifying the amount of honey or gochujang paste according to your taste.
- Garnishes like sesame seeds and scallions add freshness and a nice crunch but are optional.
