Description

These Grape Jelly Meatballs are a sweet and tangy appetizer perfect for parties or family gatherings. Made with fully cooked frozen meatballs simmered in a delicious chili sauce and grape jelly glaze, this recipe offers an easy, crowd-pleasing dish that can be prepared in a slow cooker or on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 (32 ounce) bag frozen fully-cooked meatballs

Sauce

  • 12 ounces chili sauce
  • 10 ounces grape jelly

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meatballs: If using frozen meatballs, no additional preparation is needed. If making from scratch, see notes for homemade meatball preparation.
  2. Sauce meatballs in slow cooker: Place the frozen meatballs into the crockpot. Add the chili sauce and grape jelly on top. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours or on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, until the sauce is thoroughly heated and well combined with the meatballs.
  3. Serve from the slow cooker: Serve the meatballs directly from the crockpot using a serving spoon or toothpicks for easy party serving. Alternatively, transfer them to a serving dish.
  4. Sauce meatballs on stovetop: Add the meatballs to a saucepan along with the chili sauce and grape jelly. Cover and simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is hot and coats the meatballs evenly.

Notes

  • To make meatballs from scratch, combine ground beef with breadcrumbs, egg, minced onion, salt, and pepper, shape into 1-inch balls and bake at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 20 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Using frozen fully-cooked meatballs saves time and simplifies preparation.
  • This dish can be served as an appetizer or as a main dish alongside rice or rolls.
