Description
These garlic parmesan green beans are a quick and easy vegetarian side dish that comes together in just 15 minutes with only 6 simple ingredients. Steamed until tender-crisp, then tossed in garlic butter and finished with grated parmesan, they make a flavorful addition to any meal.
Ingredients
Green Beans
- 1 lb fresh green beans, stems removed
Seasoning & Toppings
- 2 tablespoons unsalted grass-fed butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon sea salt or kosher salt
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- Steam Green Beans: Fill a deep stock pot with 2-3 inches of water and bring it to a boil. Place trimmed green beans in a steamer basket and set it over the boiling water. Cover and steam the green beans for 6-8 minutes until they are slightly tender but still maintain some crunch. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Heat Butter and Cook Garlic: In a large skillet, melt the unsalted grass-fed butter over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring frequently to avoid burning and release the garlic’s aroma.
- Season Green Beans: Add the steamed green beans into the skillet with the garlic butter. Sprinkle the sea salt and ground black pepper over the green beans and toss well to ensure even coating with the butter and seasonings.
- Add Parmesan Cheese: Remove the skillet from the heat and immediately sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese over the green beans. Toss once more so the warm green beans melt the parmesan slightly, creating a flavorful coating.
- Serve: Transfer the garlic parmesan green beans to a serving dish and enjoy immediately as a delicious and savory side.
Notes
- These green beans are versatile enough for everyday dinners or holiday feasts like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- For best texture, do not overcook the green beans; a slight crunch enhances the dish.
- Don’t skimp on the parmesan cheese, as it adds a wonderful salty richness.
- For a vegan option, substitute olive oil for butter and use nutritional yeast in place of parmesan cheese.
