Description

A crowd-pleasing, creamy, and spicy Game Day Buffalo Chicken Dip combining shredded chicken, Frank’s hot sauce, cream cheese, and ranch or blue cheese dressing, baked to perfection and perfect for serving with celery sticks, crackers, or chips.

Ingredients

Chicken Mixture

  • 2 pounds chicken (boiled and shredded)
  • 12 ounces Frank’s Hot Sauce (Original – not Buffalo Style)

Dip Base

  • 16 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 16 ounces Ranch OR Blue cheese dressing (your preference)

Cheeses and Garnishes

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup blue cheese crumbles (optional)
  • Chopped green onion for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Chicken: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9×13-inch glass baking dish, evenly spread the boiled and shredded chicken. Pour the entire 12-ounce bottle of Frank’s Hot Sauce over the chicken and mix to coat thoroughly, forming an even layer.
  2. Make Cheese and Dressing Mixture: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the softened cream cheese and the entire 16-ounce bottle of Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing. Stir continuously until the mixture is heated through and smooth, ensuring no lumps remain.
  3. Assemble and Bake: Pour the warm cream cheese and dressing mixture evenly over the chicken and hot sauce layer in the baking dish. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the mixture to bubble.
  4. Add Cheeses and Continue Baking: Remove the baking dish from the oven after 25 minutes. Sprinkle the 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese and the optional 1 cup of blue cheese crumbles evenly over the top. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Rest and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and let it stand for 10 minutes to thicken slightly. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve warm with celery sticks, Triscuits, or sturdy chips such as thick tortilla chips that won’t break apart.

Notes

  • Use original Frank’s Hot Sauce, not the Buffalo style, for the authentic flavor.
  • Both Ranch and Blue Cheese dressings work well; choose based on your preference.
  • Allowing the dip to stand after baking helps it thicken and makes serving easier.
  • Serve with sturdy dippers to prevent breaking due to the creamy texture.
  • Optional blue cheese crumbles add extra tang and bite, but can be omitted.
