Description

A quick and comforting Easy Dumpling Soup made with vegetable broth, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and frozen dumplings, finished with fresh spinach and green onions. This flavorful Asian-inspired soup is ready in just 15 minutes, perfect for a light and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Soup Base

  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp fish sauce (optional)
  • 1 green onion, white part separated and thinly sliced

Main Ingredients

  • 10 frozen dumplings
  • ½ cup fresh spinach

Toppings

  • ½ tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Sichuan Chili Crisp
  • Green part of 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the broth: In a medium-sized pot, combine the vegetable broth, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, fish sauce if using, and the white parts of the sliced green onion. If incorporating any pre-cooked proteins or additional vegetables that require softening, add them to the pot now.
  2. Simmer and boil: Bring the broth to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, add the frozen dumplings to the pot.
  3. Cook the dumplings: Cover the pot and let the soup return to a boil. Allow the dumplings to boil for approximately 2 minutes or according to package instructions until thoroughly cooked.
  4. Add fresh vegetables: Turn off the heat and stir in the green parts of the sliced green onion along with the fresh spinach, allowing them to wilt gently in the residual heat.
  5. Serve the soup: Divide the soup evenly between two bowls. Garnish with sesame seeds and a spoonful of Sichuan Chili Crisp for added flavor and heat. Enjoy your warm, flavorful dumpling soup immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute dumplings with your favorite variety, such as pork, chicken, or vegetable dumplings.
  • Adjust the amount of Sichuan Chili Crisp according to your preferred spice level.
  • For a richer broth, add a splash of mushroom or miso broth.
  • Vegetables like bok choy or thinly sliced mushrooms can be added for extra nutrients.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this recipe gluten-free.
