Description

These Easy Bread Machine Dinner Rolls are soft, buttery, and perfect for any meal. Made with a combination of warm water, milk, melted butter, and yeast, these rolls come together effortlessly using your bread machine’s dough cycle. After a quick rise and bake, you’ll have 20 fluffy rolls with a golden-brown exterior, brushed with melted butter for extra flavor and tenderness.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp bread machine yeast (1 packet)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough Ingredients: Add the warm water, warm milk, 1/3 cup melted butter, sugar, egg, flour, salt, and yeast to the bread machine pan in the order listed. Make a small well in the flour for the yeast to keep it from touching the wet ingredients.
  2. Start Dough Cycle: Select the dough cycle on your bread machine and press start. Allow the machine to mix and knead the dough until the cycle completes.
  3. Grease Baking Pan: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking during baking.
  4. Shape Rolls: Lightly flour a cutting board or work surface. Remove the dough from the bread machine and divide it into 20 equal pieces for individual dinner rolls or 12 larger pieces if you prefer hamburger buns.
  5. Form Dough Balls: Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place them seam-side down into the prepared baking pan, arranging them evenly.
  6. First Butter Brush and Proof: Brush the tops of the rolls with half of the 4 tablespoons of melted butter. Cover the pan loosely with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the rolls rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes, until puffy.
  7. Preheat Oven and Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 16 to 18 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown on top.
  8. Final Butter Brush and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush with the remaining melted butter to keep them soft and flavorful. Serve the rolls warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute warm milk with buttermilk for a richer flavor.
  • Make sure your water and milk are warm but not hot, to activate yeast properly without killing it.
  • If you prefer softer crusts, cover the rolls with foil during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle some garlic powder or herbs on top before baking.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature and reheat before serving.
