Description
Classic deviled eggs featuring creamy, tangy yolk filling with a hint of mustard and vinegar, topped with smoked paprika and fresh dill for a savory garnish. Perfect as an appetizer or party snack, these deviled eggs are easy to prepare and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
Eggs
- 6 large eggs
Yolk Filling
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 dash black pepper (to taste)
Garnish
- Smoked paprika (for sprinkling)
- Fresh dill weed (for garnish)
Instructions
- Boil Eggs: Place the eggs in a saucepan and add water to cover them by ½ inch. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, cover the pan and remove it from heat. Let the eggs stand, covered, for 15 to 17 minutes to cook through.
- Ice Bath: Transfer the eggs to a bowl filled with ice water and let them cool for 5 to 10 minutes. This halts the cooking process and makes peeling easier.
- Peel Eggs: Peel each egg under running cool water to remove the shell smoothly without damaging the whites.
- Slice Eggs: Slice the peeled eggs in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl, arranging the whites on a serving platter.
- Mash Yolks: Use a fork to mash the yolks into a fine, crumbly texture, ensuring no large clumps remain.
- Mix Filling: Add mayonnaise, white vinegar, yellow mustard, salt, and black pepper to the mashed yolks. Mix thoroughly until you get a smooth, creamy filling.
- Fill Egg Whites: Just before serving, fill each egg white half with the creamy yolk mixture. Use a small spoon or a piping bag for a neat presentation.
- Garnish: Sprinkle the top of each filled egg with smoked paprika and garnish with fresh dill weed for added flavor and visual appeal.
Notes
- For easier peeling, older eggs work better than very fresh eggs.
- To make the filling spicier, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
- Use a piping bag with a star tip for a decorative filling presentation.
- Deviled eggs can be prepared a day in advance; keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
- Adjust salt and pepper to taste for preferred seasoning levels.
