Description

Crispy Rice Paper Dumplings are a deliciously crunchy and savory appetizer or snack made with a flavorful ground chicken filling wrapped in delicate rice paper, then pan-fried to golden perfection. Served with a tangy and spicy dipping sauce, these dumplings offer a delightful combination of textures and tastes perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 12 ounces ground chicken
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh gingerroot
  • 1 tablespoon chili crisp sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Dumplings

  • 12 rice papers (8 inches)
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil

Dipping Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili crisp sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • Optional: Sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Make the filling: In a large bowl, stir together the ground chicken, minced green onions, soy sauce, minced gingerroot, chili crisp sauce, and sesame oil, mixing lightly but thoroughly to combine all the flavors evenly.
  2. Soak the rice paper: Fill a shallow bowl with lukewarm water. Soak one rice paper in the water just until it becomes pliable, about 30 to 45 seconds depending on thickness. Remove, allowing excess water to drip off, then place the rice paper on a flat surface and cut it in half.
  3. Assemble the dumplings: Place 1 level tablespoon of the filling in the center of each half rice paper. Fold the top and bottom edges over the filling, then fold in the sides to form a neat square parcel. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. Sauté the dumplings: Heat the canola oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the dumplings and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F to fully cook the chicken.
  5. Make the dipping sauce: In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, chili crisp sauce, and rice vinegar. Serve hot dumplings with the dipping sauce and sprinkle with optional sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Be careful not to over-soak rice paper wrappers; they should be pliable but not too soft to handle easily.
  • Check the internal temperature of the dumplings to ensure ground chicken is fully cooked to 165°F for safety.
  • For extra crispiness, you can add a little more oil in the skillet and avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Customize the dipping sauce by adding a touch of honey or garlic for variation.
  • These dumplings are best eaten fresh for maximum crispiness.
