Description
A hearty and creamy ranch pasta skillet recipe perfect for a quick and satisfying American dinner. Ground beef is cooked with onions, mixed with pasta, beef broth, milk, and ranch seasoning, then topped with sharp cheddar cheese for a flavorful and comforting meal ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound Ground Beef (80/20 preferred, can substitute ground turkey or chicken)
- 1 small Onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 2 cups Beef Broth (low sodium if preferred)
- 1 cup Milk (whole milk recommended)
- 8 ounces Pasta (rotini, penne, or similar short pasta)
- 1 packet Ranch Seasoning Mix (about 1 oz)
- 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, shredded (preferably sharp cheddar)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Dice the onion and shred the cheddar cheese if not pre-shredded. Measure out all other ingredients for easy access during cooking.
- Cook the Ground Beef and Onion: Heat the olive oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion, cooking and stirring with a wooden spoon until the beef is browned and fully cooked, and the onions are softened.
- Add Liquids and Seasoning: Pour in the beef broth and milk, stir in the ranch seasoning mix, and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Cook the Pasta: Add the pasta directly to the pot, stirring to combine. Cover and simmer for about 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Finish with Cheese: Once the pasta is cooked, reduce heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve the creamy ranch pasta hot for a comforting main course dinner.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef for a leaner option.
- Use low sodium beef broth to better control the saltiness of the dish.
- Be sure to stir occasionally while the pasta cooks to prevent sticking.
- Sharp cheddar gives a nice tangy flavor, but mild cheddar can be used if preferred.
- This recipe is easily doubled to serve more people.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be reheated on the stovetop or in the microwave.
