Description

This classic Monkey Bread recipe features tender buttermilk biscuit pieces coated in a cinnamon-sugar mixture, baked to golden perfection with a luscious brown sugar butter glaze. Perfectly sweet and gooey, it’s an irresistible pull-apart treat ideal for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Monket Bread Ingredients

  • 3 cans buttermilk biscuits (the non-flaky kind)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) ensuring it’s ready when your monkey bread is assembled.
  2. Prepare Biscuits. Open all three cans of buttermilk biscuits and cut each biscuit into quarters to create bite-sized pieces.
  3. Make Cinnamon Sugar Mixture. Combine the granulated sugar and 2 to 3 teaspoons of cinnamon (3 tsp for a stronger cinnamon flavor, 2 tsp if you prefer it milder) in a 1-gallon zip-top bag and shake well to blend.
  4. Coat Biscuit Pieces. Add all biscuit quarters to the cinnamon-sugar bag, seal tightly, and shake vigorously until every piece is well coated and separated.
  5. Arrange in Pan. Evenly spread the coated biscuit pieces inside a Bundt pan, creating an even layer.
  6. Melt Butter and Brown Sugar. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt 1 cup of butter together with 1/2 cup brown sugar, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth and uniform in color.
  7. Pour Glaze. Pour the melted brown sugar butter mixture evenly over the coated biscuit pieces in the Bundt pan.
  8. Bake. Place the Bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top crust is a deep, dark brown color.
  9. Cool and Serve. Remove from the oven and allow the monkey bread to cool for 15 to 30 minutes to set slightly before carefully turning it over onto a serving plate for that perfect pull-apart presentation.

Notes

  • Adjust cinnamon to your taste — 3 teaspoons for a strong cinnamon flavor, 2 teaspoons for milder.
  • Allow cooling before unmolding to prevent it from falling apart.
  • Use light or dark brown sugar according to flavor preference.
  • Non-flaky biscuits work best to hold shape during baking.
  • Serve warm for the best gooey texture.
