Description

These Cheeseburger Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or meal featuring juicy seasoned beef, melted cheddar, and classic condiments layered on soft Hawaiian rolls. Perfectly baked with a buttery, sesame seed topping, these sliders combine all the flavors of a cheeseburger in a convenient, crowd-pleasing mini sandwich.

Ingredients

Sliders

  • 1 (12-pack) Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 12 round-slices dill pickles
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese

Condiments

  • Mayo, mustard, ketchup (as desired)

Topping

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Buns: Preheat your oven to 350℉ (175℃). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom halves, cut-side up, on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Cook Beef and Onions: Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add the ground beef and finely diced onion. Cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are softened. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, then remove from heat.
  3. Apply Condiments: Spread your desired condiments on the buns. A classic approach is to spread mustard and ketchup on the bottom buns and mayonnaise on the top buns to create a balanced flavor.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Place one pickle slice on each bottom bun. Evenly spoon the cooked ground beef mixture over the pickles. Layer cheddar cheese slices over the beef, then place the top halves of the buns over everything to form sliders.
  5. Add Butter and Sesame Seeds: Brush the tops of the sliders with the melted butter. Sprinkle sesame seeds generously on top to add flavor and a nice golden finish.
  6. Bake Sliders: Place the assembled sliders in the preheated oven and bake for 12-13 minutes. This allows the cheese to melt thoroughly and the buns to toast slightly.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or caramelized onions to the beef mixture.
  • You can swap cheddar for your favorite cheese such as American, Swiss, or pepper jack.
  • Use fresh pickles or add jalapeños for a spicy kick.
  • These sliders are best served warm and can be made ahead and baked just before serving.
  • For a crispier bottom bun, toast the rolls slightly before assembling.
