Description

Indulge in a luxurious twist on your regular latte with this Cabernet Chocolate Latte recipe. Combining the rich flavors of cabernet sauvignon wine and smooth chocolate syrup with the boldness of espresso, topped with steamed milk and chopped chocolate, this drink makes for a decadent and unique coffee experience perfect for cozy evenings or special occasions.

Ingredients

Cabernet Syrup

  • 3/4 cup cabernet sauvignon (or your favorite red wine)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

Latte

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons cabernet syrup
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons chocolate syrup
  • 2 shots espresso
  • 1/4 cup steamed milk
  • Chopped chocolate for topping

Instructions

  1. Make the Cabernet Syrup: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the cabernet sauvignon and sugar. Whisk constantly until the sugar dissolves completely. Continue simmering the mixture briefly, then turn off the heat and allow it to cool completely. You can store this syrup in the fridge for later use.
  2. Prepare the Latte: In the bottom of a mug, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cooled cabernet syrup according to your sweetness preference. Then add 1 to 2 teaspoons of chocolate syrup. Pour two shots of hot espresso over the syrups and stir gently to combine.
  3. Add Steamed Milk: Carefully pour 1/4 cup of steamed milk on top of the espresso mixture to create a creamy layer.
  4. Garnish: Sprinkle chopped chocolate over the top of the latte for added texture and a rich, chocolaty finish. Serve immediately and enjoy your decadent cabernet chocolate latte.

Notes

  • The cabernet syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • Use your favorite type of red wine if cabernet sauvignon is not available; this will slightly alter the flavor profile.
  • Adjust the amount of cabernet syrup and chocolate syrup based on your sweetness and flavor preferences.
  • The espresso shots can be brewed using any espresso machine or a strong coffee maker if espresso is not available.
  • For a non-dairy version, substitute steamed milk with almond, oat, or soy milk.
  • Chopped chocolate as a topping adds texture but can be replaced with cocoa powder if desired.
