Description

Banana Sushi is a fun, quick, and easy snack that combines the creamy sweetness of bananas with a variety of flavorful spreads like peanut butter, cream cheese, or Nutella, wrapped in a soft flour tortilla and topped with nuts, freeze-dried strawberries, or shredded coconut. Perfect for kids and adults alike, this no-cook recipe offers a playful twist on traditional sushi with nutritious and delicious ingredients.

Ingredients

Peanut Butter Banana Sushi

  • 1 taco-size flour tortilla (gluten-free tortillas work great, too!)
  • 1 ripe but firm banana (peeled)
  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter (divided)
  • ½ cup chopped peanuts

Cream Cheese & Strawberry Banana Sushi

  • 1 taco-size flour tortilla (gluten-free tortillas work great, too!)
  • 1 ripe but firm banana (peeled)
  • 3 tablespoons softened cream cheese (divided)
  • 2 strawberries (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed freeze-dried strawberries

Nutella & Coconut Banana Sushi

  • 1 taco-size flour tortilla (gluten-free tortillas work great, too!)
  • 1 ripe but firm banana (peeled)
  • 3 tablespoons Nutella (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tortilla with Spread: Lay one of the tortillas flat on a cutting board, and spread 2 tablespoons of your chosen spread (peanut butter, cream cheese, or Nutella) evenly over the top to create a flavorful base.
  2. Place the Banana: Place the peeled banana at one end of the tortilla. If the banana is curved, gently straighten it to fit better — slight cracking is okay.
  3. Roll the Banana: Roll the banana snugly inside the tortilla, like rolling someone in a rug. Once rolled, place the tortilla roll seam-side-down on the cutting board to keep it intact.
  4. Add Toppings: Spread the remaining 1 tablespoon of the chosen spread evenly over the outside of the tortilla roll. Sprinkle your topping choice on top: chopped peanuts for peanut butter, crushed freeze-dried strawberries for cream cheese, or shredded coconut for Nutella.
  5. Slice and Serve: Slice the roll into approximately 1-inch sushi-sized pieces. Serve on a plate with chopsticks for an extra fun presentation.

Notes

  • You can use gluten-free tortillas if needed for dietary preferences.
  • Choose ripe but firm bananas to make rolling easier without breaking.
  • Feel free to swap toppings based on availability or personal taste.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and freshness.
  • This snack is kid-friendly and perfect for quick lunchboxes or playtime treats.
