Description

Delight in these irresistible Apple Fritter Bites, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, bursting with sweet cinnamon-spiced apples. Perfect as a snack or dessert, these easy-to-make bites are fried to golden perfection and lightly glazed with a sweet vanilla powdered sugar drizzle.

Ingredients

Batter

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled & cubed

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Warm oil in a pan or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for frying the fritters.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the beaten eggs, vanilla extract, milk, and melted butter. Whisk wet ingredients together in the center until combined.
  4. Mix batter: Using a spatula, fold the wet and dry ingredients together gently until just combined to prevent overmixing.
  5. Incorporate apples: Fold the cubed Granny Smith apples into the batter evenly.
  6. Fry fritters: Drop about 1 tablespoon of batter into the hot oil per fritter. Fry each side for about 30 seconds or until golden brown. Avoid undercooking to prevent doughy centers and overcooking to avoid sogginess. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Prepare glaze: While frying, whisk together powdered sugar, salt, vanilla, and milk. Adjust powdered sugar and milk quantities to achieve the desired glaze consistency.
  8. Glaze fritters: Dip the fried apple fritter bites into the glaze, then place on parchment paper-lined baking sheet to cool and set.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tart contrast that balances the sweetness.
  • Maintain the oil temperature at 375°F to ensure even frying and prevent greasy fritters.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep fritters tender and light.
  • The glaze consistency can be adjusted for a thicker or thinner coating.
  • Serve fritters warm for best taste and texture.
