Description
Enjoy a quick and delicious homemade version of Taco Bell’s famous Cinnamon Twists made effortlessly in the air fryer. These puffed Mexican wheat snacks are coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar mix, perfect for a crunchy and flavorful treat in just minutes.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 oz (56 g) Duros (Mexican Wheat Twists)
- Cooking Spray
- 100 g Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare the Duros: Add the 2 oz of Mexican wheat twists (Duros) directly into your air fryer basket. There is no need to preheat the air fryer for this recipe.
- Air Fry the Duros: Set the air fryer to 400°F (204°C) and cook the Duros for 4 minutes until they puff up and become crispy.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar Coating: While the Duros are cooking, prepare the coating by combining 100 grams of sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a large bowl. Mix well to ensure even flavor.
- Apply Cooking Spray: Once the Duros have finished air frying and are puffed, generously spray them with cooking spray. This helps the cinnamon sugar coating adhere evenly to the twists.
- Coat the Twists: Transfer a few of the air-fried Duros into the cinnamon sugar mixture and toss to fully coat. Then place them on your serving dish. Repeat until all the twists are coated.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately for a crunchy, sweet snack that tastes just like Taco Bell’s classic cinnamon twists.
Notes
- You can substitute regular sugar with a sugar substitute to reduce calories or accommodate dietary restrictions.
- If you prefer stronger cinnamon flavor, feel free to adjust the cinnamon quantity to taste.
- Using cooking spray is essential to help the sugar and cinnamon stick to the twists. Don’t skip this step.
- These twists are best enjoyed fresh and crispy right after air frying and coating.
