Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Potato Wedges with a perfect blend of garlic, onion, smoked paprika, and Parmesan cheese. A simple, healthier alternative to traditional fried potato wedges, cooked to golden perfection in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Potatoes

  • 2 russet potatoes (skins on)

Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Optional

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Scrub the potatoes thoroughly while leaving the skins on. Cut each potato in half lengthwise, then cut each half into wedges to create uniform-sized pieces.
  2. Soak the Potatoes: Place the potato wedges into a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 15-20 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and promotes crispiness.
  3. Dry the Potatoes: Remove the wedges from the water and pat them dry very well with a clean towel or paper towels. Dry the soaking bowl before placing the potatoes back into it.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) and let it preheat for 5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  5. Season the Potatoes: Drizzle the olive oil over the dried potato wedges. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper evenly over the potatoes. Toss them thoroughly to ensure each wedge is coated well with oil and seasonings.
  6. Arrange in Air Fryer Basket: Place the seasoned potato wedges in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the potatoes in two batches to avoid overcrowding.
  7. Air Fry the Potatoes: Cook the potato wedges at 400°F for 18-22 minutes until they are tender on the inside and crispy on the edges. Shake the basket once after the first 10 minutes, then continue shaking every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking and crisping.
  8. Add Parmesan and Serve: If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot potato wedges immediately after cooking. Serve right away for the best crispy texture.

Notes

  • Soaking potatoes is key to removing starch and getting extra crispy wedges.
  • Be sure to dry the wedges thoroughly after soaking to prevent sogginess.
  • ‘Shake the basket regularly during cooking to ensure even crisping on all sides.
  • Cooking in batches helps prevent overcrowding, which can reduce crispiness.
  • Parmesan cheese is optional but adds a delicious savory flavor.
  • Russet potatoes are recommended for their starchy texture, but Yukon Gold can be used for a creamier bite.
