Description

These Air Fryer Cinnamon Sugar Twists with Cream Cheese Dip are a quick and delightful treat made from frozen dinner roll dough twisted into shapes, air fried until golden, and coated in cinnamon sugar. Served with a creamy vanilla-infused cream cheese dip, they are perfect for a sweet snack or dessert that’s easy to prepare and absolutely delicious.

Ingredients

Dough and Coating

  • 12 frozen dinner roll balls (thawed according to package directions)
  • 3 tbsp canola oil
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp salted butter (melted)

Cream Cheese Dip

  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 5 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Cut each ball of dough in half, creating 24 portions. This forms the base for your twists.
  2. Shape Twists: Roll each portion of dough into a 6-inch long ‘snake.’ Grasp both ends and twist them clockwise simultaneously so the dough twists together.
  3. Seal Ends: Pinch the ends together and tuck the thinnest part underneath to secure the twist shape.
  4. Arrange and Oil: Place the twists at least 1 inch apart in the air fryer basket. Generously brush both sides with canola oil to aid crisping.
  5. Proof the Dough: Cover the basket with plastic wrap and allow the twists to puff up at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Prepare remaining twists the same way and rest on a baking sheet covered with plastic wrap.
  6. Preheat and Mix Sugar: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Whisk cinnamon and sugar together in a large bowl for coating.
  7. Air Fry First Side: Air fry the first batch of twists for 7 minutes. If they aren’t browned yet, brush with a little more oil.
  8. Flip and Finish Cooking: Flip the twists and air fry for an additional 4 to 5 minutes, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Prepare Cream Cheese Dip: While twists bake, beat cream cheese and vanilla extract in a medium bowl on low speed until smooth.
  10. Add Sweetener to Dip: Add powdered sugar and beat on low until combined, adding milk little by little to achieve a thick, drizzly consistency. Set aside.
  11. Coat Twists: When twists are done, brush them with melted butter or toss in a bowl with melted butter.
  12. Apply Cinnamon Sugar: Immediately coat the warm twists generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  13. Serve: Serve the warm cinnamon sugar twists immediately with the cream cheese dip for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure dough is fully thawed before shaping for best puffing results.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon in the sugar coating to your taste preference.
  • If your air fryer basket is small, cook the twists in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • For a richer dip, use cream cheese softened completely at room temperature.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat gently in the air fryer to restore crispness.
