Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Chicken Wings coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, perfectly paired with a creamy Hidden Valley Ranch dressing for dipping. This easy recipe delivers tender, juicy wings with a delicious crispy skin using the air fryer, making it a quick and healthier alternative to traditional frying.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup Frank’s Original Red Hot Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon water

Ranch Dressing

  • 1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup Best Foods mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ranch Dressing: In a small bowl, mix together the Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix, buttermilk, and mayonnaise. Stir until well combined. Cover and refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to serve.
  2. Prep Wings: Cut the tips off the chicken wings and then cut each wing in half at the joint to separate drumettes and wingettes.
  3. Coat Wings: Place the wings in a large plastic bag, sprinkle the baking powder over them, seal the bag and toss thoroughly to evenly coat all wings with baking powder. This helps achieve a crispy skin in the air fryer.
  4. Air Fry Wings – First Cook: Lightly coat the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray and preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 1 minute. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the basket without touching. Air fry at 375°F for 25 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through to cook evenly.
  5. Make Sauce: While the wings are cooking, combine the dark brown sugar, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and water in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat and set aside.
  6. Glaze Wings: When wings are cooked, transfer about 1/4 cup of the sauce to a small bowl. Using a basting brush, coat each wing evenly with the sauce. Return wings to the air fryer and cook at 400°F (204°C) for an additional 2 minutes to set the glaze.
  7. Coat Wings with Remaining Sauce: Place the wings in a large bowl, pour the remaining sauce over them, and gently toss to coat all wings completely.
  8. Serve: Serve the crispy, sauced wings hot with the prepared ranch dressing and fresh veggies on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Using baking powder on the wings helps them crisp up in the air fryer without drying out.
  • Do not use baking soda as a substitute; it will give an unpleasant taste.
  • Arrange wings in a single layer without overcrowding the air fryer basket for best results.
  • Adjust spice level by modifying the amount of hot sauce in the sauce mixture.
  • Keep extra ranch dressing chilled and store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
