Description

This 60-Second Chocolate Chip Mug Cookie is a quick and easy single-serving dessert perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth in moments. Made in a mug with simple pantry ingredients, it cooks quickly in the microwave, delivering a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie experience without the need for an oven or extensive preparation.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or coconut oil
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips (regular size or mini)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mug: Very lightly coat the inside of a 6- or 8-ounce mug or ramekin with cooking spray, butter, or coconut oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: Add melted butter, egg yolk, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt into the mug. Stir until the mixture is well combined.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Incorporate the flour and chocolate chips into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. If the batter appears dry or crumbly, add a splash of milk to achieve a smoother consistency.
  4. Cook the Mug Cookie: Place the mug in the microwave. Cooking time depends on your microwave wattage: for 1,000 watts, cook at 80% power for 1 minute; for 1,200 or 1,500 watts, cook at 75% power for 45 seconds. The cookie is done when the top puffs up and springs back lightly to the touch. Avoid overcooking to keep it soft and gooey.
  5. Serve Warm: Enjoy the mug cookie immediately, while warm. For extra indulgence, serve with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • Use a 6- or 8-ounce mug for best results and to accommodate cookie rise.
  • If the batter is too dry, add a small splash of milk to improve texture.
  • Microwave wattage varies, so you might need to adjust cook times slightly.
  • Do not overcook; the cookie should be moist and slightly springy.
  • For a dairy-free version, use coconut oil and a plant-based milk.
