Description

This 5-Minute Black Bean Dip is a quick, flavorful, and nutritious appetizer perfect for entertaining or snacking. Made with simple ingredients like black beans, salsa, garlic, and fresh cilantro, it blends into a smooth dip that pairs wonderfully with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Black Bean Dip Ingredients

  • 2 (14 oz. each) cans low-sodium black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3/4 cup salsa
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup minced cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare the black bean mixture: In the bowl of a food processor, combine the drained and rinsed black beans, salsa, minced garlic, fresh lime juice, ground cumin, water, and salt. Puree these ingredients together until you achieve a smooth and creamy texture.
  2. Add cilantro: Add the minced cilantro to the pureed mixture and pulse the processor a few times just to incorporate the cilantro without over-processing, so you get little bursts of fresh herb flavor throughout the dip.
  3. Serve: Transfer the black bean dip to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately with tortilla chips or raw vegetables for a healthy and delicious snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, you can add a tablespoon of olive oil or avocado before blending.
  • Adjust the salt according to your taste and the saltiness of the salsa used.
  • This dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or some chopped jalapeño.
  • If you do not have a food processor, a high-speed blender can also be used.
